Combining 20 years of experience as a CPA with my qualifications to perform business valuations (CVA) and to analyze your Divorce Choice$ as a CDFA, I am
uniquely qualified to assist you in most financial areas involving divorce, including analysis of the tax consequences. My experience encompasses valuing the
community business, verifying community assets and debts, tracing assets and income, identifying and analyzing income available for support (including
lifestyle analysis), analyzing separate property claims, and analyzing lump sum buy outs for support. I am also trained in Collaborative Divorce and am often
jointly engaged as a neutral financial analyst to assist the clients in reaching a settlement. Often times the divorce process involves the division of
a small business. Even if the business interest is held in one spouse's name, it may be community property if it was acquired, improved upon, or financed
during the life of the marriage. It is also important to determine the business's cash flow available for support, which is generally much different than the
net income reported on the tax returns. Once the financial facts are established, solutions are proposed based on the financial situation and your short
& long-term needs. Whenever possible, we will utilize the tax laws to minimize the tax consequences and to try to keep more monies with the family. There's
no perfect end to a marriage; but with careful planning, life after divorce can still be prosperous.
