Notes

1. Pension calculation alternatives.

We have enhanced our pension calculator to add another way of estimating pensions.  Previously, we always assumed that the employee worked until the earliest possible retirement date.  We estimated the pension benefit, and calculated the marital portion of the pension (also known as "coverture"), based on that assumption.

Now, we support another approach as well.  Now, it is also possible to assume that the employee works until a cut-off date, such as the separation date, the trial date, or some date in between.  (You would pick a date in-between if you received a benefits estimate from your employer as of a date in between.)

The approach used varies from situation to situation, but now we cover both.

Also, we added to the pension calculator the ability to generate a unisex (gender-neutral) estimate.  This may be less accurate than the gender-specific estimate, but it will enable closer comparison to estimates that use that approach.

2. California state tax.

In the California Child Support Calculator, we have updated the state tax computation for 1999 changes.  The changes will not have much impact on the bottom line.

3. "Life Decisions" section.

We have made numerous small changes suggested to us by viewers and by our Advisors.

4. Navigation

In the Financial Advisor, we have put the chapters along the left, web style, to make navigation easier.
