Release Notes for Version 5.14 released October 9, 2003

This release introduces a feature we call "liquidations," in which the software can automatically use cash, savings, securities, or IRAs to cover excess expenses.

All Editions that Include the Advisor module.

In real life, if a person spends more than he or she receives, then the person would use any cash on hand, use savings, sell securities, or even distribute from IRAs to cover the deficit.

This version of the software introduces a new feature in the Advisor module, called "liquidations," which allows the software to automatically do just that.

For new file, by default, the feature is turned on. To turn it off, or to turn it on for older files, click "Goals & Assumptns" and scroll down to "Covering Expenses In Excess of Income (Liquidations)."

Professional Edition.

This release features, in the Professional Edition, a rudimentary export to Excel. Only the top two reports are exported - Net Income spreadsheet style and Net Worth spreadsheet style. They are exported to a single spreadsheet, with net income on the top and net worth beneath it.

This feature lets you extend the Family Law Software Planner to write custom calculations to cover situations that the software does not include.

After the export, you have to enter formulas to re-create the totals and subtotals on the exported tables.

Then, you will be able to create a spreadsheet calculation for entries of your choosing, feed the result into any column of numbers, and all the other numbers will automatically update.
