Release Notes for Version 6.13, released Sept 15, 2004
This release adds the ability to have the software automatically check the web for new releases, and a feature to allow annual IRA contributions to be specified.
Enhancements and corrections to all editions:
1. IRA contributions. You may now specify an amount to be added each year to the IRA or 401(k). Contributions run until the account starts distributing. We have implemented this feature in as straightforward a way as we could. That means that the contribution is made each year, whether there is enough income or not. Also, we count the IRA as being tax deductible. We are not supporting non-deductible IRA contributions.
2. Minor small fixes. There were three tax items that were not calculating correctly if adjusted gross income was negative: medical expense deduction, state taxes, and miscellaneous itemized deduction. These have been fixed.
Enhancements for Professional Edition:
3. Auto-Update feature. The software now has the ability to automatically check the web for new updates. To set it up, click the "Home" tab than "Software Updates," then "Auto Update." You can decide how often the software will check for updates. If the software finds an update, and you decide not to download it, you can decide whether you want the software to prompt you about this upgrade later, or not at all until there is another upgrade.
