Release Notes for Version 9.03, released
March 8, 2007 In this release, we have improved our what-if
analysis, our automatic backup capability, and made several other
improvements.
In General
What If Analysis. We have replaced the old "Alimony What-If" with
a new screen that we are calling "What If Analysis." The new approach
has many improvements. You may look at exemptions and filing status
simultaneously with alimony and child support. You may specify which
factors you want to vary, and show only those on the screen. For the
results, previously we showed only projected after-tax cash. Now you may
specify any of four types of results: projected after-tax cash,
projected cash available for living expenses, mini-report of current
year after-tax cash, and mini-report of current year cash available for
living expenses. Previously you could view results only on an annual
basis. Now you may view results on an annual, monthly or weekly basis.
Backup files. We now automatically save a backup file for each
day that you work on the software (for the most recent five days), as
well as for each hour of the current day. To access the backup files,
click the Files menu above the "Home" tab. The files are saved on your
hard drive. They will help if you inadvertently delete your data file,
or if you want to go back to an earlier version. They will not help you
in the event of a hard drive crash.
Two-digit years. You may now type two-digit years in all dates.
That is, you may now type 4/2/07 instead of 4/2/2007. We will display
the four-digit year we think you intended. If we did not guess correctly
(we should almost always guess correctly), you can just change the
four-digit year.
In-line footnotes on Generic Affidavit. It is now possible to
include footnotes to be listed after each asset or liability. This is
now one of the options on the "Financial Affidavit" screen.
Reporting Real Estate Equity. On property reports (Marital
Property, Total Property, and Property Statement), we now show in the
left margin for real estate the total value, mortgage, and equity value.
Draft Reports option. There is a new option to specify that
reports that are printed are "Draft" reports. This is an option on the
"Set Report Options" dialog. This is located at the top of the Planner
tab > Reports screen, or at the bottom of the Lawyer tab > More Reports
screen.
File label option. You may now add a label that will print on
every single report in a file. It identifies the file, for example
"Option #1," or "Home Sold." This is located at Planner tab > Reports >
"Modify Report Labels and Settings" or Lawyer/Mediator tab > More
Reports > "Modify Report Labels and Settings."
Planner Link. We removed the "Planner Link" screen from the
Guidelines tab. The checkbox to specify that you want the data to carry
from Lawyer/Mediator tab into the guidelines now appears on the
Background Info screen on the Guidelines tab.
Lawyer/Mediator Tab
Quick Child Support. We have added Quick Child Support
calculators on the Lawyer/Mediator tab for Connecticut, Florida, New
York, and Pennsylvania. The link is on the left at the top, right below
Background & Child.
Improved layout for entering Assets and Liabilities. On the
Lawyer/Mediator tab, we have added more options to control which fields
appear at the top level. Our goal has been to enable the easy entry of
income and expense that is associated with an asset. All fields are
still available at the more info level.
Assets on Financial Affidavits. For financial affidavits, the
default is now that all assets appear on both spouses affidavits. On the
Lawyer/Mediator tab, you may now specify otherwise, on an asset-by-asset
basis if you wish. You do this either by making the Form column visible
at the top level (and selecting H or W), or by clicking the appropriate
option (H or W) on the Form selection on the more info level.
Short List vs. Long List for Expenses. We have made it clearer
how to select the shorter expense list vs. the longer expense list.
New Calculator. We removed the Alimony Trade-Off screen and put
the Alimony Calculator screen in its place. The Alimony Calculator
screen lets you specify a target % of cash available for living
expenses. (The Alimony Trade-Off screen is still available on the
Negotiate tab.)
Reorganized Reports List. We moved the Budget Report to the top
group of reports, and moved Cash Flow to the more reports screen.
Printing Blank Spaces. New special keystroke: Ctrl-B will now
cause that field to print blank (not, e.g., 0).
Connecticut
Additional Assets on Affidavit. We reformatted the "additional"
assets section a bit. In Section H it was not clear that different
assets were being included in the same section. Also some section 4
assets did not have the same style of header. Now all sections should
start with "JD-FRM-6 Section."
Pennsylvania
Inventory and Appraisal. We have added an option to indicate that
footnotes should be included directly with the assets & liabilities.
This is now one of the options on the "Financial Affidavit" screen.
Inventory and Appraisal. We now list assets and liabilities even
if their value is zero. There is still an option with each asset to
exclude it from the inventory and appraisal statement.
New York
Printing. Made some adjustments to the printing of the Net Worth
Statement, to help with page breaks when there are footnotes (on assets,
totals or liabilities).
Blocking totals. We added an option to block totals on all pages.
That way, you can print a Net Worth Statement in situations where the
values of key assets are unknown, and not distort the reporting.
Both Mode for Expenses. Fixed links at the top of the expense
page (Lawyer and Planner tabs) so that you can get to both parties when
in Both mode.
Improved Vehicle Expense Reporting. The person who pays for
expenses on a vehicle is now linked to the person who is going to keep
the vehicle. Formerly, it was linked to the person on whose statement
the vehicle was going to appear.
Problems fixed:
Correct file loading. Occasionally, we would load the wrong file
when you click a link from the "recent files list." We have fixed at
least some occasions of this occurring.
GA Child Support Forms. Fixed problem on Sched A and Sched E
where blank page was printed if printing to PDF.
NJ Additional Forms. For calculated fields on additional forms
(when "carry" x box selected) overridden values were not being set
correctly and some were being "lost" if you saved a file. Example:
"Place of Birth" on Confidential Litigant form
Rental real estate income. Rental real estate income with
mortgages that were partially allocable to the rental was not carrying
correctly to affidavits. That has been fixed. Now, the net rental income
(after subtracting the percent of the mortgage allocable to the rental)
carries as rental income. The remainder of the mortgage carries to the
mortgage line.
CT affidavit. On the Connecticut affidavit, real estate equity
was not calculating correctly. That has been fixed.
Deleting H has info. The Delete key will now "erase" the
"special" values such as "H has info."
