Release Notes for 11_05
Changes Affecting All States.
This release includes substantially rewritten and improved child support
in Florida, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania; a substantially improved Case
Information Statement in New Jersey; and dozens of incremental software
improvements.
Default current year. After December 15, all new files will
default to a start year of "2010"
Valuation Report. We have added a new valuation (or "he said /
she said") report, where you may enter each party’s asserted valuation
and a valuation date, for easy comparisons.
[#] button. The new "[#]" button pops up a time-period
calculator. Enter an amount in any time period (week, month, bi-monthly,
etc.) and press the <tab> key. The amounts for all the other time
periods will appear.
Year-to-date option. On the pop-up time period calculator, you
may also select "year to date," which will convert "year to date" to an
average over any time period.
For "Fn" and "Note" fields, you may now enter multi-line entries.
Tax update. We now have incorporated all actual federal tax
brackets and inflation adjustments for 2010.
Income Without Assets. We added the ability to enter investment
income, IRA income, and pension income without entering the associated
assets. The income entered this way stays with the party; it does not
switch with ownership of the asset, unlike income entered with the asset
itself.
Defined Benefit Pensions. On the "more info" screen, we now show
the coverture start and end dates, and they may now be overridden, so
you may start and end coverture whenever you like.
Abbreviated Tabs. For lawyers and mediators, the software now
shows just three tabs: Home, Lawyer [or Mediator], and Planner.
Child Support Result. The child support result now displays at
the bottom of the Child Support Data screen.
Wage Entries. We now do not show the employer name unless there
is more than one W-2. This makes entry quicker.
Overrides. The software pops up the override warning dialog only
on the first override. After that, it simply puts the result in red.
Local taxes. You may now specify a local tax rate for each party.
The rate you enter becomes the default for future files. Local taxes
will appear at the top level (that is, not the "more info" level) for
the following states: CA, CO, DE, IA, IN, KY, MD, MI, MO, NJ, OH, OR,
PA, WV. These are the states where there tend to be local taxes.
Canadian taxes. We have implemented federal and local tax for
Canada.
Average tax rates. We added "average" tax rates to US taxes. So
you now have both marginal and average rates you may use.
Taxes for Child Support. We now use "year 1" (or current year)
filing status for child support calculations, unless year 1 is "joint
filing" If year 1 is joint filing, we use year 2. This also affects the
calculation of child care credit for child support purposes.
IRA. We added the ability to enter year 1 current distributions
from IRAs by dollar amount. Formerly, you could enter by "% of account"
only.
Property Settlements. We now allowed Property Settlement to be
specified as "Reimbursements," which are reimbursements to the other
party for funds used by a party for separate purposes. Reimbursements
are not counted toward the equalization amount.
Social Security. We now allow the possibility of increases of
Social Security at a rate other than inflation. Also, we allow the user
to opt out of the automatic calculation of increases or decreases with
early or delayed retirement. This change allows this screen to be used
for Canadian Pension Program or Quebec Pension Program.
Scrolling on drop-down fields. When your cursor is in a drop-down
field, the scroll wheel on the mouse will not work. If it did work, it
would simply shift the selection in the drop-down field, which could
lead to confusion.
Fairway Divorce. For Fairway Divorce franchisees, there is a
customized edition. It requests the entry of a disclaimer on the initial
startup. And the word "Lawyer" on the Lawyer tab is replaced by
"Fairway"
Guidelines tab. Entries on the Guidelines tab now always carry
from the Lawyer or Planner tabs. Previously, there was an option to
enter data directly on the Guidelines tab.
Financial Affidavits. On all financial affidavits that show
federal taxes (CT, FL, IL, NJ, NY, PA, RI), there is now an option to
calculate taxes without alimony from the current relationship.
Connecticut.
Real Estate. Expanded the fields for description, to allow longer
descriptions.
Mortgages. We now show two mortgages on the Affidavit.
Affidavit. All the text field descriptions on the face of the
affidavit may now be overridden, to allow entry of any text you wish. We
also gave a little extra space on the Affidavit for text.
Florida.
Child Support. Revised the software to add the current child
support guideline worksheet
Georgia
Child Support. Updated for changes in guidelines, including
making the low-income adjustment a user-entered field, and including the
parenting time deviation along with other deviations on Line 10 of the
worksheet, instead of deducting it from the Basic Child Support
Obligation on line 5
New Jersey
FamilySoft Import. You may now import from FamilySoft to Family
Law Software. Click Files tab > Import.
Thoroughly revised New Jersey Child Support and Case Information
Statement. Faster and easier to use.
Added many additional forms. Confidential Litigant Information
Sheet, Certificate of Insurance, Statement for County Probation
Division, Summary of Prior/Pending Family Actions, Paternity Form,
Complementary Dispute Resolution Alternatives, Early Settlement Program

Pennsylvania
Child Support. Extensively revised the Child Support Data screen,
to make results conform with SupportCalc and PASCES, and made it easier
to follow, and faster and easier to use.
Added PA Health Insurance Coverage Information form.
New York.
Printing "blank" Now, fields with a value of zero will print as
blank, unless you explicitly enter a zero.
Overwriting field descriptions. Now you can overwrite field
descriptions for all entries on the Net Worth Statement.
NY Affidavit. If you "X" the line for "don’t calculate alimony,"
the calculated values now go away.
Net Worth Statement Income. At the bottom of the Income page, we
now have a new entry for Income after payroll deductions.
Washington State
Updated child support guidelines. We updated the Washington State
Child Support Guidelines for the 2009 revisions.
