Release notes for version 14.01 build 411.01, Feb
20, 2012
FICA tax holiday. This release reflects legislation to extend
the FICA tax holiday through December, 2012.
State tax update. The release updates state
tax rates and brackets to 2012.
Alimony Needed. A new option allows you to
keep child support in sync with Alimony.
Release notes for version 14.01, Dec 22, 2011
Macintosh version. The software is now available in a version for
the Macintosh. Any licensed user may download and use the Mac version.
This will be a real help for people who have a Mac at home and Windows
at the office.
Start Year updated. In all new files, the Start Year will default
to 2012. All tax calculations for the start year will be for 2012 as
well.
Alimony as Percent of Wages, on Monthly Budget Report. If you
designated alimony as a percent of wages, then selected “monthly” on the
Budget report, that alimony was not being included. That has been fixed.
Omit investment income from child support. Added option to omit
investment income from child support for Illinois, New Jersey, and
Pennsylvania.
Alert if Sale of Real Estate is Before Start Year. If the sale of
Real Estate takes place before the Start Year (typically the current
year), there is now an Alert that appears at the line where the sale
date is entered.
Alert if Federal Income Tax is negative. If credits are more than
taxes, we now show an alert on the Budget report.
Child Support. Improved “Where Do I Enter It” help in CT, FL, IL,
NJ, NY, and PA,.
Self-employment tax calculations. When parties are filing
jointly, added help text to explain that the number is the combined
total pro-rated by income.
Simple COLA. For people who are already retired, our benefit
calculation was not reflecting a specification that the COLA be “simple”
(CalSTRS pensions). Now it does.
Sale of Residence. Added exception for “unforeseen circumstances”
if home is sold because of divorce. In general, if the 2 of 5 year test
is failed, or another home was sold within 2 years before this sale, the
exclusion will still be pro-rated as # months lived in home / 24.
Age arithmetic. If you advanced the start year, our age
arithmetic was not advancing along with it.
IRA/410k assets of a child. Now, when you make contributions into
an account that is an IRA/401k that is designated as a child’s account,
the value will not accrue to the party.
Social Security. Initial year payment is now pro-rated based on
birth date.
Mortgage statement date. If the mortgage statement date is later
than the start year, we will now assume it is on the first day of the
start year. What was happening was that we were ignoring the payments if
someone moved Start Year to an earlier year.
Year-end updates. IPhone, IPad and Android hard-coded calendar year moved to 2012.
Updated pension and mortgage interest rates. Inflation update – no
change. Confirmed that there was no change in IRS mortality table for
IRAs as of 2011.
Property Statement. Special entries such as “Unknown” now carry
to the values on the Property Statement.
Footer. There is now an option to have the entire footer and date
in a larger (10 point) font. Select this on the Print Options dialog,
which can be found on Lawyer > More Reports or Planner > Reports.
California
Child support. Health insurance payroll deductions are now being
counted as a deduction from gross wages for California state tax
calculation within the child support calculation.
SDI rates. Used in child support tax calculation. The SDI
Withholding Rate for 2012 is 1.0 percent. The SDI taxable wage limit is
$95,585 per employee for calendar year 2012.
Connecticut
Child Support. Added a screen for Business, Rental, Investment,
and Pension income.
Flexible Affidavit. Moved "life insurance premiums" from
"Household Expense" to "Personal Expense."
Flexible Affidavit. Removed the label "Equity" over most assets.
Florida
More Info. We added links at the top to toggle between parties,
and made it possible to enter all info on this screen, the Income &
Expenses and the Assets & Liabilities. In other words, you no longer
have to go to the Affidavit itself for any entries.
Debts. It is now possible, on the "more info" screen for a debt
to specify that the debt payment should not appear on the Affidavit.
Debts. We now display all additional creditors by making extra
lines on the Affidavit, rather than subtotaling on an attachment.
Employment status. It is now possible to be both employed and
retired.
Date retired. We added "date retired" to the "Form Info" screen.
Debts. The percent a party pays on the debt is now at the top
level on the Lawyer tab.
Florida Bar Number. The Florida Bar Number now prints on the
Statement page of the Affidavit, if it is entered. Added "Bar #:" field
to professional configuration dialog (Home tab > Prof’l Info).
Illinois
New DuPage County form. This release includes the new DuPage
County Disclosure form.
Lake County. Added the ability to enter a note for "last year's
income."
New Jersey
Other Dependent Deduction Worksheet. Added text to clarify that
parent who has custody appears as non-custodial on the Other Dependent
Deduction worksheet.
Child Support. Added a screen for Business, Rental, Investment,
and Pension income.
New York
Child Support. Added a screen for Business, Rental, Investment,
and Pension income.
Vehicles. The lien amount that you enter on the Net Worth
statement is now the same as the lien amount on the Assets & Liabilities
“more info” screen for the vehicle. Previously, these were two different
fields.
What If Analysis. In New York, where it is possible for the
software to calculate alimony end dates, if you had overridden those,
the What If Analysis was not working correctly.
Pennsylvania
Mortgage Adjustment. The link to create mortgages on Adjustments
screen was not working and now is fixed. Also, we have simplified the
entry of mortgages on that screen, so that only the payment amount and
payer appear, not the balance or interest rate.
Child Support. Added a screen for Business, Rental, Investment,
and Pension income to be counted for child support.
