Your Lawyer's Age and Gender

There are myths about age and gender of lawyers.

Some people think judges like older male lawyers.

Some women think younger women lawyers will be more sympathetic to them and young male lawyers will be sharks.

You should of course hire someone who makes you comfortable, and age and gender may be a part of that.

But watch out for your preconceptions. Older men won't always be more effective. Younger women won't always be more sympathetic. Younger men won't always be sharks.

Try to figure out what each lawyer is like on his or her own terms.
