What to Say in Public
The best thing to say is something that is respectful of both parties.
Judy and Kevin say simply that they are separating to take time to
work out personal differences.
Although Judy is sorely tempted to violate the emotional pact of the marriage and start to rack up
points in the community game of "whose fault was it," she manages to
say nothing to anyone, and to retain her dignity.
This approach also maximizes the chances for a reconciliation.
Judy knows that anything she says can never be unsaid.
