Women are marrying later than they did 15 years ago.
The following statistics bear out the idea that women are marrying
later than they did 15 years ago.

In 1990, 41.3% of white women had married by age 24. In 1975, that figure was 64.9%.

Both in 1975 and 1990, by age 54, 96% of whites were married.

In 1990, 23.5% of Black women had married by age 24. In 1975,
that figure was 47.5%.

In 1990, 45.8% of women of Hispanic origin had married by age
24. In 1980, that figure was 55.4%. (The census does not have
figures for women of Hispanic origin in 1975.)
